Galatians 5:22-23  But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23  meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Meekness - Softness of temper; mildness; gentleness; forbearance under injuries and provocations.

1. In an evangelical sense, humility; resignation; submission to the divine will, without murmuring or peevishness; opposed to pride, arrogance and refractoriness. Gal 5.

I beseech you by the meekness of Christ. 1 Cor 10.

Meekness is a grace which Jesus alone inculcated, and which no ancient philosopher seems to have understood or recommended.

Christ set an example of
Psa_45:4; Isa_53:7; Mat_11:29; Mat_21:5; 2Co_10:1; 1Pe_2:21-23;
Psa 45:4  And ride prosperously in Your majesty, because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and Your right hand shall teach You fearful things.
Isa 53:7  He was oppressed, and He was afflicted; yet He opened not His mouth. He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep before its shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.
Mat 11:29  Take My yoke on you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls.
Mat 21:5  "Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes to you, meek, and sitting on an ass, even a colt the foal of an ass."
2Co 10:1  And I myself, Paul, beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ; I, who indeed to look upon am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.
1Pe 2:21  For you were not called to this? For Christ also suffered on our behalf, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps, 22  He who did no sin, nor was guile found in His mouth, 23  who when He was reviled did not revile in return. When He suffered, He did not threaten, but gave Himself up to Him who judges righteously.
His teaching
Mat 5:38  You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth." 39  But I say to you, Do not resist evil. But whoever shall strike you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40  And to him desiring to sue you, and to take away your tunic, let him have your coat also. 41  And whoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him two. 42  Give to him who asks of you, and you shall not turn away from him who would borrow from you. 43  You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy." 44  But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you, 45  so that you may become sons of your Father in Heaven. For He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
A fruit of the Spirit
Gal_5:22; Gal_5:23;
Gal 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23  meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Zep 2:3  Seek Jehovah, all the meek of the earth who have done His justice; seek righteousness; seek meekness. It may be you shall be hidden in the day of Jehovah's anger.
Put on
Col 3:12  Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender feelings of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering, 13  forbearing one another and forgiving yourselves, if anyone has a complaint against any. As Christ forgave you, so also you do.
Receive the word of God with
Jas 1:21  Therefore putting aside all filthiness and overflowing of evil, receive in meekness the implanted Word, which is able to save your souls.
Exhibit, in conduct, &c
Jas 3:13  Who is wise and knowing among you? Let him show his works by his good conduct with meekness of wisdom.
Answer for their hope with
1Pe 3:15  but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason of the hope in you, with meekness and fear;
Show to all men
Tit 3:2  to speak evil of no one, not being quarrelsome, but forbearing, showing all meekness to all men.
Restore the erring with
Gal 6:1  Brothers, if a man is overtaken in a fault, you the spiritual ones restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, considering yourself, lest you also be tempted.
Precious in the sight of God
1Pe 3:4  but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, the meek and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the sight of God.
Follow after
1Ti 6:11  But you, O man of God, flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness.
Instruct opposers with
2Ti_2:24; 2Ti_2:25;
2Ti 2:24  But the servant of the Lord must not strive, but to be gentle to all, apt to teach, patient,
2Ti 2:25  in meekness instructing those who oppose, if perhaps God will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth,
Urge, on their people
Tit_3:1; Tit_3:2;
Tit 3:1  Put them in mind to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to every good work,
Tit 3:2  to speak evil of no one, not being quarrelsome, but forbearing, showing all meekness to all men.
A characteristic of wisdom
Jas 3:17  But the wisdom that is from above is first truly pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
Necessary to a Christian walk
Eph_4:1; Eph_4:2; 1Co_6:7;
Eph 4:1  I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the calling with which you are called,
Eph 4:2  with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love,
1Co 6:7  Indeed then there is already on the whole a failure among you, that you have lawsuits with yourselves. Why not instead be wronged? Why not instead be defrauded?

1Sa 30:6  And it greatly distressed David, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, each one for his sons and for his daughters. But David encouraged himself in Jehovah his God.
2Sa 16:9  And Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please let me go over and take off his head. 10  And the king said, What have I to do with you, sons of Zeruiah? Let him curse, because Jehovah has said to him, Curse David. Who then shall say, Why have you done so? 11  And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeks my life; and surely now this Benjamite? Let him alone and let him curse, for Jehovah has spoken to him. 12  It may be that Jehovah will look on my affliction, and that Jehovah will repay me with good for his cursing this day.
